Design:

Duality was a challenging theme, but thanks to all the ideation experience and techniques gathered through this years, me and my team managed to get our hands on something quite interesting to make, both mechanically and narratively.

The initial idea was to create a game in which you played a murder mystery in which you played as both the investigator and the culprit, controlling both characters simultaneously on a split screen. We then added an intricated story, where everything revolved  around exploring areas available in your screen section, and each right interaction would have made the split screen line move in a clockwise direction, to symbolize time passing.

The challenging part was the actual level design, as me and the other designer in the team had to design spaces and interactions so that the line would only move forward , and no event was blocked by the splitscreen collider.

Programming

For this GameJam, I only had to work with a good programmer that did all the code, so I partecipated in the problem solving process for each problem (like the dynamic split screen) and just suggest some bugfixing here and there.

Art

Challenging part in this jam was designing the hotel floor plan and assemble the beautiful modular assets that our artist produced to create the hotel and populating it. We had some troubles with pivot points and hierarchy groups, so we ended up losing some time on that.
