The Game

A unity 2d platform game that plays around having to repair your controller, which has been broken from an evil AI that doesn't want you to stop playing and the controls are being randomly shuffled (your left movement on the x button, your jump on your right trigger...). Each time you die, the controls change again, and you can collect coins to try and repair some of the buttons when needed.

Design

The project starter really well with a great number of exciting ideas in the first couple of hours. After a quic democratic vote, our team decided to create a 2D platform with this unique randomized controls feature. Since it was quite technical, I then worked mainly in importing assets in one place and coding the player movement/abilities, while creating a level editor with tilemaps for my level designer to work on.

Code

Having to our disposition Unity's old input system, I had to assist our programmers which had less experience with it to create this commands shuffler, while working on coding a satisfying character moveset. Major part of the last day was spent in resolving a lot of merge conflict that presented at the last moment, due to inexperience of some part of the team with version control software.

Art

Fortunately in our team we had enough artists and I only partecipated in communicating with them and making sure that the work produced was consistent and in the correct format, importing it in unity for them.

I also managed to sneak in an interview with the programmer at the end of the jam, which transcript has been put on the university website and recording in the jam documentary!(2:13)
